As of
January 1, 2017, DIVING FOR FUN will
NOT be servicing pneumatic or band spear guns. However, we wanted to continue to provide
our step-by-step pneumatic or band spear gun repair procedures as a reference for all our past customers.
PNEUMATIC SPEAR GUN REPAIR PROCESS |
- Prior
to disassembly the spear gun is wiped down and visually inspected for any signs of leakage.
- The spear gun is then immersed in a leak test bath to look for signs of leakage from o-rings and seals.
- The pressure is released and the spear gun is disassembled.
- All metal parts are placed in the ultra sonic cleaner, and a chrome-safe acidic
solution is used to dissolve all corrosion and undesirable sea-life growth.
- All plastic/rubber and silicone parts are washed and then treated with a silicone spray.
- Metal parts are removed, washed in a neutralizing solution, dried, and then polished.
- All old parts are visually inspected to determine if any parts show excessive wear to suggest
a revised service interval to the customer.
- The new parts are checked for compatibility and completeness.
- The spear gun is then assembled and oil added to the manufacturers specification.
- The spear shaft is visually inspected for straightness and deformities.
- The spear gun is then pressurized according the manufacturers specification and immersed in a leak test bath
to look for signs of leakage from o-rings and seals.
- The power regulator is then tested. The spear gun is test fired on both the low and high settings using a floor
base test shaft.
- The trigger stroke and sensitivity is then measured and adjusted according to manufacturers specification.
- Inspect and verify the safety switch functions according to the manufacturers specification.
