As of January 1, 2017, DIVING FOR FUN will
NO LONGER be offering training services. However, we wanted to continue to provide
a list of the classes we offered along with course outlines as a reference for all our past customers.
UPGRADE FROM BASIC DIVER TO OPEN WATER DIVER |
General Information:
PADI Basic Diver - This was an old entry level diver certification. There is a slight differnce between the PADI Basic Diver
ertification and the PADI Open Water Diver certification. The PADI Basic Diver course mets the same classroom and confined
water pool dive requirements as the PADI Open Water Diver certification. The PADI Basic Diver certification required only
two open water dives where the PADI Open Water Diver certification requires four open water dives. The only restriction
for the PADI Basic Diver certification at the time was to dive with an alternate air source.
Course Overview:
Upgrade from your PADI Basic Diver certification to PADI Open Water Diver Certification.
Prerequisites:
Must be a certified PADI Basic Diver.
Course Activities:
You will complete chapters 4 and 5 in the Open Water Diver Manual, complete confined water dives 4 and 5,
and complete open water dives 3 and 4.
- Classroom: There are one classroom session. The classroom session will
cover chapters 4 and 5 in the Open Water Diver Manual, review your knowledge review answers and prepare
you for the confined water and open water dives.
- Independent Study: Read chapters 4 and 5 in the Open Water Diver Manual and
complete Knowledge Reviews. You will need to turn in the knowledge reviews prior to certification.
- Open Water Dives: The confined water dives 4 and 5 are performed in a pool or pool
like conditions and the open water dives 3 and 4 are performed at an area lake/scuba park or on a dive trip.
Forms Required:
Students training will need to complete the three (3) forms: Liability Release, Statement of Understanding, and
Medical Statement prior to entering the water.
Materials/Equipment Required:
The current version of the Open Water Diver Manual, Open Water Diver DVD, RDP Tables or eRDPML.
Length of Course:
If you have read chapters 4 and 5 in the Open Water Diver Manual, completed chapters 4 and 5 knowledge
reviews and watched the entire video prior to coming to class then the classroom will last approximately
1 - 2 hours depending upon class size.

UPGRADE FROM SCUBA DIVER TO OPEN WATER DIVER |
General Information:
PADI Scuba Diver - Requirements are (i) completion of modules one, two and three in the classroom
(including quizzes), (ii) completion of confined water dives one, two and three, (iii) complete the
10 minute swim/float, and (iv) completion of open water dives one and two in open water including
the dive flexible skills snorkel/regulator exchange, tired diver tow and cramp removal. Restrictions:
Scuba Divers are trained only to dive under the direct supervision of a divemaster, assistant instructor
or instructor. The certified Scuba Diver may dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet. It is recommended that
the guided dives do not exceed this limit.
